Both Deceased Students Revealed in the Ivy League School Shooting as Police Persist in Manhunt for Perpetrator.

The pair of scholars who died in the weekend's violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – as a manhunt for their assailant carried on following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a service on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed condolences on social media, stating: “There are no words. Remembering her loved ones and companions, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was an Uzbek national named MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and assisting patients,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

What Happened

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering building of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-man arrested in a search at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last 24 hours or so.”

Ongoing Concerns

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate new worry for our city”.

The shooter opened fire inside a lecture hall in the engineering building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source told the Associated Press.

Officers that searched the lodging seized two firearms and two ammunition clips when the individual was arrested, according to reports.

Condition of the Injured

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was discharged from care, stated Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, authorities stated on Sunday.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a message. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, friends, and peers and grieve for of his bright future.”
